ramp made of recyclable materials
Nizhnekamsk's educational institutions saw four phandomats for plastic waste collection installed on their premises. The collected recyclable materials were then used to fabricate a ramp for low-mobility residents of the city.
Nizhnekamsk became home to 4 Bottle Bank phandomats. Bottle Bank is one of the largest networks in Russia comprising 200 phandomats in 18 of the country's regions. The phandomats were installed at four of the city's educational establishments: Nizhnekamsk Institute of Chemical Technology, Boarding Lyceum No. 24, Adymnar Polylingual Preparatory School, and the Children's Eco-Biological Center. They can be used to deposit bottles up to two liters by volume that bear the 1 PET mark, as well as bottles emptied of household chemicals that are marked with 2 HDPE label. The collected recyclables were used to build a ramp made out of a polymer-sand composite impregnated with recycled plastics.

Deposited recyclables would earn their depositors BottleCoin points that are redeemable in exchange for lucrative offers (discounts, bonuses, promotions) from loyalty program partners, including Synergetic, Lingualeo, and others. The BottleCoin initiative in Nizhnekamsk was joined by local partners including Hello Yellow English language studio (offers two group learning sessions for 60 points) and Tykva anti-cafe (30 minutes of space rental for each 10 points). One deposited bottle earns one point.

Over 3,200 bottles have been deposited in the phandomats over the five months of the program's being in existence. This amounts to about 100 to 110 kilograms of plastics. Boarding Lyceum No. 24 became the leader in terms of the number of plastic bottles collected for recycling by having collected more than 2 thousand bottles.

Nizhnekamsk's School No. 18 for children with disabilities was provided with the first ramp in the city that was made out of recycled plastics. This ramp that had been fitted with handrails will enable the school children to negotiate a flight of stairs and get into school on their own without having to rely on their parents' help.
