The project’s ultimate goal is to spur the development of the culture scene in the cities where SIBUR conducts its operations through the means of contemporary theater, outreach campaigns, engagement of local communities and representatives of the theatrical communities.

On-Stage Performances

2022

Tomsk’s residents were offered a rare chance to attend a concert titled The White Square put on by the class led by Igor Zolotovitsky and Sergey Zemtsov (Year 4 acting class), and the production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, a play based on the iconic William Shakespeare comedy, directed by Anton Kiselius. After the concert and the show drew to a close, all interested spectators who gathered in the Grand Hall of the Tomsk Drama Theater could take part in a discussion with the actors and professors of the Moscow Art Theater’s Studio School. The theater’s foyer was used as the venue for an exhibition featuring works prepared by the students of the School’s Department of Stage Design and Theater Technology.

2023

The cities of Perm, Svobodny and Tomsk each hosted two productions of graduation performances given by the fourth-year students from the Acting Department of the Moscow Art Theatre School and Studio (representing Marina Brusnikina’s and Sergei Shchedrin's Workshop) including "The Iliad" and "Days of Our Lives" и «С любовью и всякой мерзостью». The six shows drew more than 2,700 spectators of whom 560 went on to join informal discussions with the shows' performers. All performances were audio-described giving their 30 visually impaired spectators an opportunity to participate in these activities.

Each performance was held concurrently with the exhibition Dialogue with the Classics featuring works of art by the students of the School’s Scenography and Theater Technology Department. The exhibitions that featured theatrical mock-ups, sketches, costumes, and props were attended by more than 3,800 visitors who took part in a total of 31 guided tours.

Activities for actors and prospective students

2022

Tomsk’s professional actors had an opportunity to attend a series of acting and stage speech master classes presented by the Moscow Art Theater’s Studio School’s Ilya Bocharnikovs, Vice Dean of the Acting Department (Basic Elements of Stanislavsky's System: Attention and Partnership), and Alexandra Nikolayeva, Associate Professor of the Stage Speech and Voice Training Department (Breathing, resonance, and diction).

The Governor's College of Social and Cultural Technologies and Innovations became a venue for a lecture given by A.I. Fokin, Dean of the Production Department, intended for future theater managers, and a lecture given by Olga Nevolina, Dean of the Department of Stage Design and Theatre Technology, put on for aspiring stage designers. The final item on the event’ program included a 1st round of auditions for applicants wishing to enroll in the Moscow Art Theater’s Studio School. Based on the auditions’ outcome, 7 local applicants from Tomsk went through to the second stage of auditions.

2023
Professors of the School’s Production, Acting, and Scenography and Theater Technology Departments gave 6 master classes in acting and stagecraft, as well as 9 lectures on Producing and Scenography intended for students and potential enrollees in the Moscow Art Theater School and Studio. A total of 167 attendees took part in the master classes with another 125 visiting the lectures. Aspiring students took part in 6 auditions for admission to the School’s acting department resulting in 14 prospective entrants advancing to the second round of selection to be held in Moscow.
