Nizhnevartovsk to host a motivational meeting as part of SIBUR's You can do anything! inclusivity project

23 may 2022

June 18 will see Nizhnevartovsk host a meeting for inclusive communities as part of the interregional You Can Do Anything! project. The goal of the event is to energize its audience, primarily made up of people with disabilities, to get more fully integrated into society including through their increased presence on social networks. The meeting was organized with the support of Nizhnevartovsk’s City Administration, Nizhnevartovsk’s Young Spectators’ Theater, and SAMiT, a youth city club.

We pay particular attention to matters of diversity and inclusion, as SIBUR has put in place a special policy governing its attitude towards such issues. Since 2016, we have supported more than 150 inclusive projects within the framework of the Formula for Good Deeds program’s grant contest. This year we launched another one of our projects, You Can Do Anything!. It includes motivational meetings with famous people with disabilities hosted by the cities where SIBUR has operations. After the first such meeting in Voronezh on April 16, it would be safe to say that meetings like these are very effective in motivating inclusive communities, as they help change the outlook of people with disabilities, Elena Snezhko, Chief Expert, Head of Formula for Good Deeds Social Investment Program, noted.

During the first part of the meeting, Victor Schastlivy, a public relations specialist with charity foundation I Love Life, and a famous motivational speaker, will be discussing how people with disabilities could coexist with the others so they can all live happily. This part of the event will be moderated by Mikhail Chetvertakov, one of the project’s partners and the head of ParaPlan, an NGO of wheelchair users (Dzerzhinsk, Nizhegorodskaya Oblast).

Meetings like these are especially valuable for those who, after being suddenly confronted by the problem of their own disability, start building boundaries and barriers inside their heads. I had been through of all that myself, but in my busy and interesting life that I lead now I do not feel the wheelchair under me, it has just become a means of transportation for me. I am sure that the encounter with Victor Schastlivy in Nizhnevartovsk will be long remembered by all the attendees, Mikhail Chetvertakov commented.

The second part of the meeting will be focusing on how disability is represented on social networks. Alexey Trantsev, the project’s partner and the development director of the Interregional Inclusive Resource Center, together with his colleagues, will be discussing the basic rules of successful work on social networks by using case-based examples. They will also present their new blog, the City of Opportunities, launched in April as part the You can do anything! project.

There are already plenty of examples on social networks where disability is no longer a disadvantage but is rather something that is conducive to promoting one’s personal brand, creativity, social project or business. You are different, hence, you are memorable. You are successful, hence, your self-esteem, lust for living and quality of life are growing! We have already started a new inclusive community we called the City of Opportunities that offers a unique training course and we want the attendees of our motivational meeting in Nizhnevartovsk to become an integral part of it. Hope to see you at the meeting! Alexey Trantsev commented.

Participation in the meeting is open to all. It will be particularly useful for those who want to find new development opportunities and spice up their lives with more activities. This event will be fully accessible for individuals with limited mobility.

The meeting’s venue is Nizhnevartovsk’s Young Spectators’ Theater (at 18/1 60 let Oktyabrya St., Nizhnevartovsk). It will start at noon with registration of the participants opening at 11:30 am.
